Verbs that are always followed by the infinitive.

27 Sep

Upon request of some online students,  starting from now  on, I am going to give an additional explanation in bahasa, “wherever it’s necessary” in a free translation (terjemahan bebas).  I hope these Indonesian explanations will be of useful to you. I will do my utmost efforts to help you. (utmost efforts = usaha sepenuhnya – noun)

  • Verbs that are always followed by the infinitive:  Some verbs can take another verb as the complement instead of a noun.  Sometimes the verb functioning as the complement must be in the infinitive (to + verb) and sometimes it must be in the gerund (verb+ing) form.  Kata-kata kerja yang selalu diikuti oleh bentuk kata-kerja asal: Sebagai pengganti kata benda, beberapa kata kerja bisa juga dilengkapi dengan kata kerja yang lain dalam sebuah kalimat. Kata kerja yang berfungsi sebagai pelengkap ini kadang-kadang harus dalam bentuk kata asal (to + kata kerja) dan terkadang juga harus dalam bentuk gerund (kata kerja + ing). The following verbs are always followed by the infinitive if the complement is a verb Berikut adalah kata-kata kerja yang selalu diikuti oleh bentuk kata kerja asal, apabila pelengkapnya adalah sebuah kata kerja.
